Just be aware, every monthly favorites post will definitely start with "I can't believe it's already ______! Where has this year gone?!" Because I mean, seriously. We're already in August. The Sunday of Summer. July was a packed month for me. I have a few favorites for you guys. Some are brand new to me and quickly swept me off of my feet and some are oldies but goodies that will always have a place in my heart. Shall we?
Maybelline Volume Express "The Falsies" Mascara - One day, while scrolling through Facebook I came across a Cosmo article about the mascara that "Khloe Kardashian swears by!" SOLD! The article just talked about how the Kardashians OG makeup artist Joyce Bonelli is obsessed with the Maybelline Volume Express "The Falsies" mascara. Now, I know I've been sucked in and manipulated before by the Kardashians (I.E. Kylie Cosmetics) but it just so happened I was looking for a new mascara and just figured why not? I know I won't have Khloe Kardashian lashes because let's be serious she either has lash extensions or wears a strip lash, or both! You know they live by the saying "go big or go home" I'm sure it's no different when it comes to their lashes. Anyways, I ended up purchasing it and it's now my go to. I'm an avid member of the "I refuse to spend more than $8 on mascara" club. I've tried high end mascara and I personally don't see the difference. This mascara is perfect for me. The wand is small enough to get close to your lash line without making a mess and big enough to actually grab the lashes and give them a nice coat.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water - This is a must have on my vanity. I use this stuff every single day. I usually use it to clean up any foundation that gets on my eyebrows. I had to learn the hard way that filling in your eyebrows before wiping off any foundation is a big no no. I just put this stuff on a q-tip and just run it over my eyebrows. This is also the only thing that will take off a super matte lip like ColourPop without having to scrub like hell. It's perfect for stubborn water proof eye makeup.
Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover - Summer is the season of no socks. Our toes are constantly out, whether we have sandals on, open toed wedges, walking barefoot on the beach, our toesies take a beating during the summer time. If you're anything like me *cough cough* CHEAP, you don't always want to spend the money to get a pedicure at the nail salon. Now of course, at home pedis never come out as good as they do at the salon.. but they definitely can hold you over for a few more weeks. No one wants to be walking around with crusty toes! This cuticle removing gel is a must have for every at home pedi. I think what makes our toes look so bad in between pedicures isn't so much the chipping polish but the dry, flakey, nasty cuticles. All you have to do is apply a little on your cuticles, wait 15 seconds and then use a cuticle pusher to, you guessed it, push your cuticles! Trust me, you will see the difference, and so will the lady in the bathroom stall next to you! (Come on, I know I'm not the only one who does it!)
Mac Creme Cup - This has been my every day lipstick. It's perfect for work or that "no make up" make up look for the summer. It has just enough tint in it to make me look alive in the morning. I also use this to brighten up a nude lipstick. I'm still on the search for the perfect nude for my skin tone, they all seem to be too tan on me and just wash me out. I'll tap a little of Creme Cup over the nude and it really makes a difference.
Mint Julep Face Mask - Lately I've been using Friday nights as my pamper night. After a long week of work and a short but still sticky and annoying commute home, nothing is better than a relaxing night in. There's something about a face mask that can change your whole mood. Sometimes washing your face just isn't enough, you gotta go in swinging with a pore cleansing mask to actually get shit done. I talked about the Mint Julep mask in my Favorite Face Masks post, go check it out there.
Poland Spring Seltzer Water - There are a lot of things that I make fun of my sister for being obsessed with that I eventually end up being obsessed with to. For example, podcasts, some Justin Bieber songs, and a personal favorite this month, seltzer water. My sister gave up her coke addiction (coca cola guys, relax) a couple of years ago and now all she drinks is seltzer water. I'm currently in the process of trying every flavor I can find at Stop & Shop. My favorite so far is probably the raspberry lime one. This would be perfect for someone who doesn't enjoy plain water . It definitely adds a kick to it.
….or at Stop & Shop!
That's all I have for this month babes. Until next time!
