"I was not made to be subtle..."

Ride or Die Makeup Tag

Ride or Die Makeup Tag

Hi lovies!

As you know from my YouTube Beauty Influencers You Need to Follow post, I could watch YouTube videos all day long. Recently Jaclyn Hill created a tag called the Ride or Die Make Up Tag where she, you guessed it, names her ride or die products from each category of make up. I thought this would be a fun tag to participate in but I really didn't expect it would be this difficult to chose. It's like asking a mum to pick who her favorite child is. But just like my mum picked her favorite (me, duh) I had picked mine, here they are!

Primer - This one was hard for me.. not because I could't narrow it down to just one, it's because I haven't found a primer that I'm on that ride or die level with. I'm currently using the Milani Prime Shield Mattifying + Pore-Minimizing Primer which I like… but don't love. So if any of my fellow oily skin girls have a primer they recommend, slide in my DM!

Foundation - I have tried plenty of foundations in my day. I've used high end foundations, drug store foundations, luminous foundations, full coverage foundations, sheer finish foundations. The one foundation (imagine you had to take a shot every time I said foundation) I keep going back to is the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless. I have it in 4 different shades because I need to make sure I'm covered whether I'm super white (winter) or I'm a little glowy (summer). It doesn't control my oils throughout the whole day (don't think that's possible, my oils cannot be tamed) but it does the best job out of all of the foundations I've tried.

Concealer - This was a little tricky for me. I had a hard time picking between two of my favorites (and cult favorites) the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer and the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I thought long and hard and I had to go with the Naked Skin Concealer. This baby just blends out so perfectly. Light Warm is also the most perfect shade for me and really brightens my under eyes. The wand is another reason why this won the ride or die title. It makes it so easy to apply the product exactly where you want it.

Face Powder - This one was pretty easy for me, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Light Plus. I use this powder every day to set my entire face and also for touch ups. I'm pretty sure my make up would just melt off without this. A lot of other setting powders seem to oxidize on my cheeks for some reason. This leaves my skin with the most natural finish, it's pretty much perfect.

Under Eye Setting Powder - This one was also an easy one. Kat Von D Lyric from her Shade & Light Contour Palette is a must have. I'm seriously waiting for her to come out with single colors because I'm almost out of Lyric but I don't really use any of the other shades in the palette. Not only do I use this for my under eye but if my contour is looking a little cray, I'll use this to clean it up. Side note.. You guys can also slide in my DM if you know a good loose setting powder (yes, I've tried the Laura Mercier translucent powder, not a fan).

Blush - I'm really not a blush girl. I would say I wear blush like once every 2 months. BUT, every time I do wear blush it's the Milani Powder Blush in Romantic Rose. This color is perfect. It gives you a pinch of color to the cheeks without making you look like an old lady headed to the supermarket. I've also used this as an eyeshadow and it's just as pretty.

Bronzer - There were two bronzers that I was going back and forth with. I decided to go with the ColourPop bronzer in Bon Voyage after thinking back on the time that I practically had a panic attack after realizing I was running low on it. This bronzer is the perfect shade for my skin tone. It's not orange at all and it's so easy to blend out. This would be perfect for someone just starting out with make up.

Highlight - I've mentioned before that I'm not really a highlight girl. Maybe that will change in the winter if my skin decides to chill out and isn't so oily. When my skin was a little more dry, I would always reach for my Laura Geller highlight in Gilded Honey. This highlight makes it so hard to do a "subtle pop on the cheekbones" because it's just so pretty you can't help but drown yourself in it.

Mascara - I've been through so many mascaras in my life, it's amazing that I've only just recently found my ride or die. It's definitely the Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express mascara. The wand is the perfect size for me to get nice and close to my lash line to really coat my lashes. The curve in the wand is something that I wasn't sure I would like but it actually became the reason why I love it so much.

Lipstick - I'm definitely a liquid lipstick kinda gal so narrowing down my favorite regular lipstick was pretty easy for me. My ride or die lipstick is MAC Crème Cup. While getting ready for work during the week, I reach for this at least 3 or 4 days out of the 5. No matter what lipstick I have on, I feel like it isn't complete without a touch of this added on there. Crème Cup just makes me feel like a pretty pink princess!

Liquid Lipstick - This is one that I'll probably have nightmares about. You wouldn't believe how many swatches I had on my arm trying to pick a favorite. If I could pick the entire ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip line, I would. After thinking long and hard I had to go with ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Avenue. This is my go to color for the fall. It's the most perfect deep red. Through all your Pumpkin Spiced Latte drinking, your apple picking, and your holiday shopping this bad boy will not budge. Ugh! Avenue, you have my heart!

Lip Gloss - I have to be in the mood for a glossy lip. I'm just not a fan of reapplying all the time and if it's windy out, forget it. But there are a few lip glosses that I'm really into. My favorite has to be the Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian. This is a plumping lipgloss which is part of the reason I love it so much. It's also the cutest color ever. It's perfect for when you're running some errands and don't want to go out with naked lips.

Lashes - I usually only wear lashes on special occasions. I.e. the Beyoncé concert. Wow, just got excited and sad thinking about the Beyoncé concert. Wish I could go back. Anyways, I usually wear Adrell Demi Wispies. They are the perfect pair of lashes because they make your look so much more glam but they're still natural enough so that you don't look like a stripper (I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about but if you don't just google "stripper lashes") Yikes. The band is also super thin which makes it really easy to maneuver if you're not so good at applying them…. Guilty.

Eyeshadow Palette - This one was an easy one for me. Call me basic, but my ride or die eyeshadow palette has to be the Morphe 35O palette. Even if I'm not using this palette, sometimes I just take it out and look at it all googly eyed because it's just that mesmerizing. It's so pretty and you can create so many different eyeshadow looks with it. You can do a full glam look, or a subtle look, or anything in between. This palette is definitely a must have.

Setting Spray - Setting Spray isn't something that I use every day… and I'm not sure why that is because every time I do use it, I just feel instantly flawless. Maybe it's the act of actually spraying it on that makes me feel so glamorous or the way it makes my make up look. I personally like to use the Urban Decay Chill Makeup Setting Spray. The "chill" effect is perfect for the summer when you just finished your face and you can already feel it melting off. I'm moving this setting spray to the front and center of my vanity because talking about it has made me realize how bad I need this in my daily routine.

Perfume - Versace Yellow Diamond. Versace Yellow Diamond. Versace Yellow Diamond. So good! This is usually my going out perfume because it's a little… much for a regular day. I'm just so obsessed with how this smells. It's definitely a sexy date night smell. I always get complements when I wear this. It stays on me all night long and sometimes I can even smell it the morning after wearing it. Ugh, so good!

Boy, that was a lot to take in! These products will always have a place in my heart and on my vanity! They got my back and I got theirs! I hope you guy enjoyed seeing my ride or die makeup products. I would love to hear what you guys would pick as your ride or dies!

That's all I have for now, until next time!
